One email worth reading, once a week
Curated wisdom—old and new—to help you build an effective organization in 2026.
What you’re in for
Most issues are one thing worth your week: a finding from the management literature, who said it, the verbatim quote that proves they said it, and why it matters to someone running a team right now.
The bar is the whole product. Every issue earns its send. When nothing crosses it, you don’t hear from me—no filler, no roundup padded out to look like work. The point isn’t coverage. It’s curation: what do we actually know about management, and can I stand behind it?
It’s also the front door to Management Craft. New competencies and tools land here first. Subscribe and you’re not on a marketing list—you’re as close to the work as it gets.
Who’s writing?
I’m Andy Sparks. I spent more than a decade founding venture-backed companies—Mattermark, a B2B data company that became a Harvard Business School case study, and Holloway, where we spent years on a single question: how do you make hard-won expert knowledge actually useful to the people who need it? I wrote the Holloway Guide to Raising Venture Capital along the way.
Now I coach startup founders and CEOs, and Management Craft is where that work goes public. I read the canonical management literature, test it against what operators actually do, and publish only what survives.
I spent thirteen years in San Francisco and now live in Columbus, Ohio with my wife Kate.
